A national yoga non-profit, Off The Mat and Into The World, promotes eco jewelry in their latest fundraiser! Reflecting their organizational roots of social service and activism, the Global Wristband Project is supporting two international campaigns as well. The wristbands are creatively sustainable too! I’m impressed that their popping patterns of color and shape are made from recycled materials!!
In addition to a sustainable cause, a buyer also supports the craftsmen of the wristbands,a community in Phang Nga,Thailand that was deeply affected by the 2004 Tsunami. After being displaced from their homes and lifestyle, a local non-profit has taught the community members the Saori Weaving Technique . As many artistic practices serve as an outlet for expression, this method of weaving has proven to be healing and therapeutic act for the Tsunami victims.
The additional profits from the project support Off The Mat’s Global Seva Challenge: South Africa 2010. This international humanitarian fundraiser engages members in HIV/AIDS prevention and general health education efforts in Africa.
Yogi or Not, you too can wear a funky, colorful bracelet, and along with thousands of others, SAVE the planet, SUPPORT Tsunami victims and PREVENT HIV/AIDS.
Simply make your difference!
