2 Quadrillion lbs of clothing! Buy Classic vs. Trendy

By on November 7, 2010

Fashion should not get left out of discussions with respect to global warming and pollution. It is estimated that 2 Quadrillion lbs of used clothes end up in U.S. Landfills each year. Chris Jordan’s amazing photographs captures this tragic reality. To some, fashion is a simple means, a necessity and to others, is represents their identity, mood, passions and their way of expressing themselves to the world. I would like to note that within this global economy, fashion magazine, global retailers and fast (trendy) fashion has created a machine that delivers homogenous looks for us all to follow.  So my question for you is… are you a trendsetter? Do you dress in classic pieces head-to-toe? If so, what are some of those classic pieces that have lasted over the seasons (and maybe years)?

Instead of buying trendy items, we’re sure to discard in a few short months, it would be wonderful to invest in classic pieces that will last longer in our wardrobe, to respect our planet!
