Luxury jewelry designer, Choo Yilin, mixes Asian and European aesthetics to produce stunning jewelry. This hybrid of styles is realized in her organic and asymmetric creations. The Choo Yilin Artisan Jewellery line features strong contrasts in texture, materials, colors, and asymmetry. The juxtaposition of smooth and rough, stones and metals, warm and cold are thoughtfully combined in each piece allowing each element to be appreciated for its natural beauty.
The line includes: bangles, earrings, necklaces, rings, cufflinks, and even fine engraved collar stays. My favorites are these stone bangles [left]. They are a perfect example of the duality of aesthetics, textures, and materials that Choo Yilin artfully designs into every piece.
Choo Yilin Artisan Jewellery also has the double role of being both artisan and sustainably made. The line is handmade by silversmiths and skilled jewelers of the Karen artisans in northern Thailand. Built on the principal that flaws are natural and nature should be celebrated for its imperfections and in a continued effort to expand their sustainable practices Choo Yilin Artisan Jewellery utilizes reclaimed precious metals and flawed gemstones in all of their designs. Materials used include organic sapphires, diamonds, and untreated rubies as well as fine silver and 18K gold.
Ready-to-wear pieces range from $140 to $500 online at Cate.com.
