Prairie Underground: Spring 2011 Preview

By on February 6, 2011

Seattle may be the city where garage music made it big, but a new underground sensation is brewing: Prairie Underground, a contemporary and eco-friendly fashion line.

In 2005, childhood friends Davora Lindner and Camilla Eckersley collaborated to create Prairie Underground. Their goal was to make a wash-and-wear and utilitarian line of clothing that was also socially and environmentally responsible. What they created goes beyond utilitarian to be casual, comfortable, unique, and wearable.

The spring 2011 line is exciting! The color palette of earth tones and putty colors are highlighted with colors like: Peacock, Burgundy, Tangerine, and Cool Coral; and the silhouettes are modern and body conscious without being trendy.

One of my favorite pieces is the Orchid Cape. It’s curved lines and layered-look resembles the petals of a flower. It is a great example of what Prairie Underground does best: casual clothes that are still so feminine.

The Spring 2011 line should arrive in stores by March. In the meantime, check out their current Prairie Underground collection on Beklina.com. Prices range from $68 to $340.
