Best Eco-Friendly Vegan Makeup

By on May 10, 2011

One challenge I have always faced over the years is finding wonderful vegan make up products that are sustainable, all natural, hold up well, are mostly organic, made from eco-friendly packaging and just makes you feel good when you apply to your skin  in such a way  you do not feel like you are wearing makeup at all. Below is a list I compiled of my favorite products.

Best Powered Foundation/Base

Everyday Minerals: The all natural, eco-friendly brand based in Austin, TX prides itself on its sustainable products that is not only wonderful in quality but affordable too. I am a big fan of their Original Glow Base in Light Neutral, this base is a medium to full coverage loose powder that goes on smooth and gives the skin a natural healthy glow. I wear the glow powdered everyday.

Best Liquid Foundation

Madara: Is an all natural organic company that was started by four woman living in Latvia, a small country in Northern Europe in the Baltic region. After trying many different high end brands my mother swears she will never use anything else but  Moon flower- tinting fluid on her face and won’t leave the house without it on. She loves  how it lightly moisturizes her skin giving it a  natural glow. She is also very pleased with how the product evens out her skin tone. Recently Angela one of our writers wrote the wonderful article “Get Dreamy with Madara”

Best Lipstick

Gourmet Body Treats: Gourmet is a perfect word you can use to describe this family owned all natural vegan company who still believes in making  it product the old fashioned way. There are so many products from this company that are delectable treats but one of my favorites besides there Chocolate Facial Mask is their Hydrating Vegan Lipstick in Chocolate. This lipstick goes on smooth and feels soft on the lips. I was excited to find out they created a few more colors to choose from including  Black Vixen. I love using black lipstick because the color is  deceiving and actually tones down my naturally red lips.

Johnny Concert: I can never say enough about this Glam Rock  makeup line that is all natural, organic, mostly vegan not to mention they are very eco-savvy. Okay, maybe I’m feeling nostalgic and  I’m starting to miss my days of being a music journalist, but I am in love with their Narcissistic Lipstick in Famous Last Words.  This lipstick goes on smooth lasts all day and feels great on your lips. In the past I have struggle to find darker colored vegan  lipsticks and Johnny Concert was the answer to my prayers .  I also recommend giving their eye shadow and their newly launched vegan eyeliner a try both are great products. This is my personal choice for a feel good makeup.

Best Blush/Bronzer

Alima Pure: Is a wonderful natural makeup company that seems to have no limits when it comes to the complexion friendly colors that look great on  just about everyones skin. My favorite is their Luminous Shimmer Blush in Aurora. This blush goes on sheer just adding a hint of color your cheeks.

Best Cream Eye Shadow Liner

Manic Panic: Goth-Rock anyone? This edgy all vegan, cruelty free brand has become a quick favorite for many with its bold colors and affordable prices. The colors in this line are dramatic but honestly anyone can wear them . I like their Eye Wear Cream and Liner in black. The one pleasant surprise about this product was the liner wasn’t greasy and the best part is it stayed on all day. What I like about this brand is even if your not into the goth look the colors are very versatile. Manic Panic will soon be coming out with new reusable pans for kits and recyclable paper for single eyeshadow packaging.
