Welcome again to another Etsy Spotlight! One of the great things we’ve talked about when it comes to Etsy.com is its amazing source of indie designers. This time we’re focusing on independent clothing brand Supayana created by Yana Gorbulsky of Montreal, Canada.

Supayana is an amazing collection of reconstructed clothing or deadstock fabrics/materials. Yes, her entire collection is comprised of recycled materials! How awesome is that? Read this little blurb about Yana and you’ll see how she embodies all of the philosophies The Green Stylist loves to support:
“By buying my materials second-hand, I am able to obtain unique and high quality fabrics without the need for new fabrics. Did you know that growing enough cotton for one t-shirt requires over 200 gallons of water? Not to mention all of the chemicals that are needed to process and bleach the cotton! Did you know that nylon and polyester are petroleum-based fabrics? Eep, so scary! By buying these products we are inevitably supporting companies that are deteriorating our ecosystem, and that’s not fun. I’m not perfect, but I try to be as “green” as possible in my professional, as well as my personal life.”
Yana is right; by providing her innovative clothing designs without the use of new fabric or materials she gives us all the option to make sustainable clothing choices without sacrificing style or quality. And because she uses recycled materials all of her items are limited edition or one-of-a-kind, ensuring your purchase is that much more special (and eco-friendly!).

Her signature style involves peter pan collars, sailor inspired bow-ties, scalloped lace and gentle ruffles. It’s the perfect mix of cute and sophisticated, and you’ll be thrilled to see how adorable Yana is as she models a lot of her creations right on her Etsy site! Check out some of her designs below:
