Being from the Midwest I, like many Midwesterners, have always beheld California as a sort of Promised Land of great weather. While I’m battling blizzards, I envision Californians sitting surfside, soaking up the sun. Of course with time, and after a few slightly upsetting geography lessons (the Sierra Nevada’s really threw me a curve ball), I’ve learned that The Golden State isn’t a year round beach party and some of my idyllic visions of perfect weather conditions have been shattered. Still, as I excitedly packed for my late July visit to the Bay area, I managed to forget an essential difference between Californian and Midwestern climates. Can you guess what it was that I forgot?
I couldn’t wait to leave behind the humidity that had heat indexes reading well over 100 degrees back home. What I wasn’t prepared for was just how dry San Francisco heat can be. I think I’ve applied my lip balm more times in the last 5 days than in the rest of my life combined. While I’m getting that beautiful tan I had so hoped for, I’m also facing some seriously dry skin and, of course, I came completely unprepared for this. Luckily, the friends I’m visiting had just the remedy and the stuff is so good I’m planning on bringing a few bottles back home with me.
Immediately after using Nature Girl’s body lotion I could feel my skin absorbing and healing. The label “Nature Girl” was obviously intriguing to me so, after realizing that I actually recognized all of the listed ingredients, I logged on to their website and read up so I could share this great product with you.
The Nature Girl philosophy is, simply put, to take care of your body while simultaneously nurturing the planet. The label uses all organic and natural ingredients, which means no synthetic chemicals clogging your pores and no harmful pollutants in our environments. Just minutes after using their lotion I feel like I’m wearing my own skin, not skin covered in a film of something unnatural. The brand also has a philanthropic branch, donating a portion of its profits to causes that benefit women and the environment.
I’ve been using the body lotion that my hostess already had with a pleasant and not over-powering tangerine scent. Before I leave San Francisco I plan on checking out not only their other lotion scents but also their wide range of face, body, bath, and hair products. I am especially excited to try out the I Am Arizona organic body oil, “a naturally rich and hydrating overall body moisturizer made with organic golden jojoba oil from the Arizona desert,” which can be used “prior to sitting in a steam room or sauna,” (Nature Girl website). Midwestern or Californian climate, that sounds pretty fabulous to me. Check out their website to find a Nature Girl retailor in your area!
