I’ve recently become obsessed with Gudrun & Gudrun knitwear. Coming to us from the Faroe Islands (where better to get your sweaters from than a cluster of islands near Iceland in the North Atlantic), Gudrun & Gudrun designs strike a perfect balance between European chic and folksy tradition. Available for men, women, and children these pieces will complete any beautiful fall wardrobe.
I was originally drawn to the Gudrun & Gudrun brand because of the incredible aesthetics of its pieces. With a vastly ranging color palette the Gudrun sweaters sport a variety of patterns and styles. I like how the typical sweater star is crafted in unexpected ways, like in their sweater dress or this sweater vest.
What was secondarily appealing to me about the Gudrun line was how luxurious their materials feel to the touch. While it’s no cashmere, the wool in their sweaters isn’t as scratchy as I usually find wool to be. I love how cozy and warm the designs are, while still appealing to the eye. Check out this sweater with leather elbows or this star patterned cardigan.
Gudrun & Gudrun does have a line of items designated specifically as “eco”, but I’ve found that nearly all of their items are composed of 100% organic or recycled materials, like this recycled cotton striped sweater. Look at this beautiful multi-colored hand-crocheted jacket made from the excess materials of other designs.
‘Tis quickly becoming the season for chunky knits and although Gudrun & Gudrun is an expensive brand, quality sweaters and knits like these last for years. If you can’t quite afford a larger item, you might look at their accessories. Proceeds from this raccoon-top hat go to helping a girls education program through Unicef.
