Simple and sweet can describe some of the work created by Proud Mary Textiles. With their collection of accessories, pillows, and home goods all made from in-house designed fabrics there are definitely some beautiful things to choose from—but the real story behind it all is that all the textiles are produced ethically, using locally sourced materials as often as possible!

Founded in 2008 by Harper Poe and Molly Purnell, Proud Mary currently works with local factories and artisans in Guatemala and South Africa to produce their goods. The fabrics are designed in-house in Charleston, South Carolina. From there, they are sent to the factories of the artisans they work closely with, to be printed or woven using traditional methods and then finished in local sewing workshops.

Proud Mary’s goal is to support the local economies of these countries by providing work and fare wages to the communities, while strengthening ties with these artisans and their work. If that’s not a wonderful and loving partnership, then I don’t know what is! So much loveliness comes out of the hands of the artisans and Proud Mary gives us access to these unique and handmade products. By opening up new markets for these small local economies, Proud Mary is helping celebrate the beauty in indigenous handicrafts and giving us a chance to own a piece of functional and beautiful textiles while helping a community in need.

I love the color palette and how soothing and comfortable the fabrics look in all their products. Not to mention the beautiful ikat and chevron patterns of the textiles they have created as well as the lovely details (like dangling pom poms!) You can shop the Proud Mary webshop here.
