Over the years I have encountered very few people that would shy away from biting into a chocolate bar for pure pleasure. However, with more people becoming more heath conscious and making more ethical food purchases than ever before fair trade chocolate in now in demand not only for its great taste but for its health benefits. Below is my list of amazing chocolate companies that go above and beyond when it comes to making treats that are just as delicious as they are eco-friendly. The three companies that are featured are vegan and take part in sustainable practices.
Fearless Chocolate
Fearless chocolate makes an addictive chocolate bar you might call a guilty pleasure but there is nothing to feel guilty about when you bit into these bars. Fearless chocolate contains very few ingredients and are made with raw chocolate that is pact with antioxidants. They taste great and have unique flavors such as 70% Exploding Coconuts and 70% Matcha Green Tea & Peppermynt. The silky texture melts in your mouth with yummy chocolaty goodness. You’ll want to stock up on them.
Based in Oakland, Fearless was created by artist /activist Jordan Michael Schuster. Fearless is an eco-friendly, vegan, raw chocolate company that is dedicated to making a great product that Schuster refers to as the “largest manufacturer of raw organic chocolate bars in the world.” The company supports a single origin source of Organic Cacao from Bahia Brazil which is fair trade and is involved in the creation of each bar from start to finish.
Nicobella Vegan Organic Dark Chocolates
Nicobella makes some of the best vegan truffles I have ever tasted. What I enjoy about the company’s truffles is that I found them to be velvety and delicately balanced, I’ve had truffles in the past that claim to be a specific flavor, but you would never know it because the flavor of the dark chocolate is so over powering. These are just right. I have to admit I am partial to their Ginger Green Tea and Pumpkin Chai truffles
Nicobella is a vegan organic dark chocolate truffle company that was created out of the owner’s love and passion for healthy and whole natural foods. The company only uses natural, organic, Fair Trade materials and is Vegan. They have a strong belief and compassion for animals; therefore, no animal products are used in any of their confections.
Go Max Go
Go Max Go, creates an addictive guilty pleasure candy bars that are reminiscent of the classic candy bar you grew up with only this one is cruelty- free and Vegan. They have the Buccaneer (vegan 3 Musketeers), Twilight (veganMilky Way), Mahalo (vegan Almond Joy) , Jokerz (vegan Snickers) and Cleo ‘s( vegan Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups) These candy bars are yummy, taste like the real thing but only better and well worth the price at about $2.50 a bar.
Go Max Go is a family owned vegan candy bar company based out of Santa,Fe New Mexico. The company was named after their beloved German Sheperd-mix, Max whom they have fond memories of him chasing after a tennis ball.
