By on November 1, 2011

I am so pleased to show off this collaboration! I have been in love with Manolo Blahnik shoes since they came out with a leopard pointed-toe flat years ago. Manolo Blahnik’s craftsmanship and creative designs are magically paired with M. Patmos’ chunky and luxurious knit – it’s a match made in eco-heaven! As a finalist of the 2011 CFDA Lexus Hybrid Living Eco Challenge, Marcia Patmos will use her prize money to support her business that is building sustainable design principles into her line. of sustainable design. The designer has been working with a Japanese factory that produces seamless, “zero waste” sweaters.

“I love bringing the idea of sustainability into the luxury market—it doesn’t have to be limited to T-shirts and grocery bags,” Patmos told WWD.

The line of shoes is made from recycled cork soles and tilapia skin which comes from Africa the fish is one of the world’s worst invasive species and the most popular farmed fish in the United States, this give both Patmos and Blahnik much to work with.

“I love bringing the idea of sustainability into the luxury market,” Patmos says. “It doesn’t have to be limited to T-shirts and grocery bags.”

Available in Manolo Blahnik stores in 2012, the shoes will retail at $895 a pair.
