True Form’s Upcycled Yoga Bags

By on February 16, 2012

Drew Taddia (owner of True Form, fitness specialist) is the innovator behind these hand-made upcycled yoga bags. Each unique piece is made from reused material, therefore, lessening the waste in our landfills. The bags are great to hold your yoga mat, as well as for stowing your keys, money and shoes. There is even a clip for a water bottle holder.  Style, sustainability and efficiency!

Drew took a few minutes to answer some questions for me:

GS: How was this idea born?

DT:  Well actually I was thinking about making some sort of yoga mats out of upcycled material, but it seems mats are so cheap now and everyone has one.  There is so much waste in our society so I was trying to think of something that can be reused, instead of new, produced specifically for my product.  I was talking with another business owner, we threw some ideas around and the yoga bags were born!

GS: Where do you get your materials?

DT: The materials either come from thrift stores or donations by gracious people.

GS: Where can our readers purchase a yoga bag?

DT: The bags can be purchased on my True Form Facebook page (on the ‘store’ link), or they can be purchased on my website (www.trueformlife.com).

GS:  Do you have any plans to carry these bags in stores and/or yoga studios?

DT:  That’s a good idea.  I have thought about other ways to promote and market them, although at the time being, I make them because I enjoy it.  When other projects I’m working on settle down a little, I’ll consider more traditional ways of expanding the line and visibility.

GS: Can anyone donate jeans for your production? If so, how?

DT:  Yes, anyone can donate jeans although at the moment I have more than enough to keep me busy for awhile.

GS: Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

DT: The only thing I’d like to share is an emphasis on reusing.  We’ve quickly become a ‘throw away society’…so many things can be reused and made from items we already have.  We can all do something small everyday to make a difference in our world.
