Livia Firth might be most well-known for being the wife of Colin Firth, but that won’t be for too much longer: her new eco-friendly fashion line is making her a household name.
Firth is known for her eco-friendly efforts in the fashion world (she is creative director of Eco Age in London and Vogue‘s Green Carpet Challenge) and is now adding to her success with the launch of Livia Firth Design.
Firth ensures her new label, a luxury line of clothing and accessories, is made with “love, fair trade rules and environmental standards in mind.”
A piece that particularly stands out is the limited edition skull necklace. It was designed by Livia and created by hand in a small artisan co-op workshop in Devon. The necklace incorporates two different traditions in its production, mixing present day artisan skills with techniques 4000 years old (the ancient Egyptian technique of the Lost Wax Casting). The result: exquisite detail in the moulded skulls. Purchase this piece here.
“LFD has, at its heart, simplicity and glamour and a little bit of playfulness, which should always be part of our life,” Firth said.
In addition to her fashion debut, Firth has teamed up with Giusy Bettoni’s global network C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy) to institute the first Green Carpet Challenge Fabric Library.
“I have known and enjoyed working with Giusy of C.L.A.S.S. for a number of years,” Firth said. “Bringing together her unparalleled knowledge of sustainable fabrics with the GCC’s continued mission to increase the profile and the possibilities of sustainable style makes huge sense.”
I’m excited to see what Livia Firth Design holds for the future!
