JULIA LAUREN VASIC – EDITOR IN CHIEF, FOUNDER
I am an eco fashion designer, a sustainability and business consultant, a writer, an artist and a social entrepreneur.
As the Editor in Chief and Founder, my mission at The Green Stylist is quite similar to the mission of the company – I strive every day to encourage a growing global community to lead a more sustainable lifestyle by scouring the market to find the best sustainable fashion and beauty products to share with you.
During my undergraduate years, I studied Biology and Studio Art. The later, led me to study fashion design at Parson School of Design in New York, NY and Central Saint Martins in London, UK. While working as a fashion designer, I became quite disenchanted with the unsustainable practices of the fashion industry. I realized the quickest way to create change in the world is through business and I am currently working towards a sustainable management MBA in San Francisco, CA, while working at The Green Stylist.
The tipping point is far off in the distant and before I sound too gloomy, we can all do something about it today. Spread the word about local, sustainable products and services – if you like a product I have found, forward it on to friends. We are all in this together.

My passion lies in helping to transform the fashion industry into a more sustainable and eco-friendly model; this lies in the hands of designers, as well as consumers, and I want to help spread the awareness of this need. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Management, as well as an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise. I have extensive experience in the retail space and even operated my own retail boutique. Currently, I’m in the process of learning about the design side of fashion and feel that learning every aspect of the fashion industry is beneficial in assisting with its transformation.
I have a precious 6 year old daughter and my goal is to help create a better world for her and the future. Through changing our consumer habits, I believe this is possible. Happy Shopping!

For the past few years, I have been firmly rooted in the policy world. I received a B.A. in environmental policy from UC San Diego and will commence a master’s program in environmental management with a focus on climate politics this fall. But all my life fashion has captivated me, and I am enjoying researching and writing about beautiful yet sustainable clothes and accessories for The Green Stylist.
I am a firm believer in the power of consumers. While attitudes about the environment are slow to move politically, I believe that the American consumer is uniquely positioned to support environmental issues with his or her dollars every day. Promoting sustainable fashion is important because it can serve as an introduction to a broader conversation about environmental preservation.
DOROTHY MUNHOLLAND, CONTRIBUTING AUTHOR
Hi! I’m a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in International Studies and a double minor in Environmental Studies and European Studies. I am very passionate about the importance of encouraging businesses to adapt socially and environmentally responsible practices in efforts to create a healthy and sustainable global community. Combining this with my love for fashion, I believe that eco-fashion can make a significant and positive impact on responsible and just resource use. When I’m not studying or socializing (Wisconsin Badgers know how to work hard and play hard) I love to travel, people watch, and be active outdoors. A sample of my to-do list: attend Paris Fashion Week and climb Mount Kilimanjaro!
VERONICA CRESPI, CONTRIBUTING AUTHOR
I’m Veronica Crespi and you’ll be hearing from me from across the pond! I am Italian, but I live in London, so I’ll be your eyes and ears in Europe. My journey into fashion began in Italy, studying Communication Studies with Fashion, and Styling, and working in Design, Production and Retail. I moved to London in 2006 to work in Trends Research – and that is when I started to get interested in sustainable fashion. Eventually, I started craving a role that would let me make the best of my experience in different fields of fashion, while also working with people – so I created a Style Consultancy. But not one like any other: Rewardrobe is the first one to focus on Slow Fashion. Where most people are still afraid of having to compromise on style to be more sustainable, Rewardrobe is there to show it is possible to be as trendy and fashionable as ever, while also buying and managing a wardrobe with a conscience.
As well as with private clients, I also work alongside emerging sustainable brands to facilitate their exposure and inclusion in events that will help them get established in the ethical fashion arena and with the public. Currently, I’m curating the selection for the Ethical Fashion Forum 2011 Source Expo’s Designer Pavilion – while my Up-Wardrobe project is providing a showcase platform for up-and-coming upcycling brands. I continue to multi-task by also being a freelance Fashion Writer, and a public speaker on the theme of Slow Fashion, and ways of bringing it to the attention of the mainstream audience.

My passion for studying fashion’s effects on our culture runs much deeper than just a love of clothes, and I have an intense desire to see it turned into something that makes a positive difference. Born into a dual-nationality family that has traveled the world, I have always been inspired and encouraged to see social phenomena as an opportunity to engage and create. I took my first real steps towards this during three years in London attending Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, where I became savvy to and inspired by the prospects offered through fashion. I quickly realized how clothing and self-adornment could be transformed from a consumerist and selfish industry into systems that would enrich and celebrate the environments and people they support.
Currently living on a small-scale, organic farm in southwestern Oregon is offering me much insight, whether it be through sifting llama dung, setting trusses on a 40 foot high building, or skinning a deer. Despite being remote from the metropolitan base of the fashion world, modern technology is allowing me to nudge my view in. I love to write and through my words hope to share a way towards cooperatively weaving a system that actually works for us all.
I’m a vegetarian and am very interested in sustainability so when I saw Jules’ ad for a web designer, I couldn’t resist.
I grew up on the East Coast around the DC area and came out to the West Coast in the early 90s. I especially love San Diego but I want to see other environs so I moved up to the San Jose area to see what’s happening around the Bay area.
I have been in the information technology field most of my adult life and enjoy getting into “the code” and making things happen. My primary focus is to satisfy business and customer needs through smart design of the underlying application, user interface, and data management. The approach is to make user interaction and usability centered on the people that will use the product in such a way as to make it easy and accessible.
Working for The Green Stylist is an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
